FAFSWAG Arts

Visual arts and cultural projects from emerging Queer Pacific artists in South Auckland.

No Fruit Without Labour

A group exhibition of emerging Pasefika LGBTIQ visual artists from across Auckland, presented by FAFSWAG. The show ran from February 14–17, 2014.

As an exercise in SWAG, No Fruit Without Labour brought together local artists with their own brand of style, painting a contemporary portrait of today's Pasefika communities. Centered on the art of story-telling, artists conceived narrative works combining light-hearted and anecdotal humour with poignant social and political commentary — a personal take on life for the modern FAF.

Pasefika Youth Float 2014

FAFSWAG members were honoured to take part in the Auckland Pride Festival — Pride Parade. The Pasefika Youth Float was made possible through the leadership of Pacific Pioneer Phylesha Brown Acton and the teams at The Project, The Village Collective, and Mangere East.

The float celebrated young Pasefika LGBTQI+ visibility and creativity, bringing FAFSWAG's energy to the streets of Auckland during the Pride Festival.
